(North Coast, Trinidad)

Best time for this hike - April to September

Another of the gems of the North Coast on your way to Maracas Bay. The trail starts on the North Coast Road. A clean and distinct trail right from the start awaits you hereby making this trek an enjoyable on throughout. The trek is a steady downhill one though not steep, but steady. Untouched forestry all the way to the beach.

The rating of this hike is (5) moderately challenging to the average hiker hiker with reasonable fitness condition. The duration of this trail to the beach is between 30-35 minutes. As we get closer to the beach, we will see remnants of houses in this forest which explains that in the 1950's until the mid 70's, here was a small community, but today, nothing but remnants remains.

On the beach....not the typical sandy beach as expected due to here actually being formed by the construction of the North Coast Road by the American Armed Forces back in 1941 where the rubble was thrown over the side of the mountain hereby resulting in the formation of this here beach. The water here is very inviting with absolutely no currents as this beach is sheltered. Swimming and fishing is actually great as there is a rock that works its way into deep waters where fishing can be enjoyed without the intereference of swimmers. One other point of interest is that there is a small waterfall on the beach that is ideal for swimmers to have a fresh water shower before the trek back uphill.
