(North Coast, Trinidad).

Best time for this hike: April - September

One of the secluded gems of the North Coast before the popular Maracas Bay. Maraquete Bay is known by very few locals primarily for snorkeling and spearfishing......sea bathing is also good here, but due to the heavy presence of rocks in the water, one must be careful of the many "Sea Urchins" present here, but do not despair, for with the use of your hiking shoes or footwear suited for sea bathing, no worries here whatsoever. This hike is rated (4) moderate.

On the North Coast Road, we begin our trek up a dirt road until eventually on flat terrain, astounding views of the Caribbean Sea, Balata Bay and Maracas Bay stands majestically before us......fantastic photographic opportunities are afforded here. Continuing our journey along pleasant terrain through a private mango field where if you are lucky, during mango season, numerous mangoes to suck to your leisure, we eventually come to wild terrain where we are now totally connected with nature. Great hiking along a narrow trail all the way for the next 30 minutes until we eventually arrive at Maraquete Bay. The very last trek to the beach is quite chancy where with the help of a rope tied on to a tree, we eventually get to the sea shore. WELCOME TO SECLUSION........

If you have googles, snorkels, fins....that will be great.
