Best time to visit this pool: January -
In the very quiet village of Matura, in Thomas Trace, we park
our vehicles in the yard of a villager while we gear ourselves for an entralling trek along a wide dirt road that will eventually lead us to an abanboned Pine Forest.
At a point along
the Pine Forest we eventually veer to our right onto a now very narrow trail as we now head downhill all the way that eventually leads us to the Matura River. We eventually approach natural forest where from here, the temperature changes significently as we
get closer to the river. At this point, we have accomplished about 30 minutes of the trek.
Our final trek takes us down a relatively steep downhill where at this point, one must carefully
manoeuvre along the narrow trail, but the lovely part of this trail is that when we complete it, we are actually on the river bank of a large and beautiful pool that is actually "Mermaid Pool". Welcome.......
